Build an extensive desert settlement filled with flat-roofed houses, narrow passages, enclosed courtyards and positions located on several levels. Complete Desert City includes 10 buildings, 14 modular wall sections and 6 separate ladders. Once assembled, the set creates 30 terrain pieces suitable for developing a substantial district on a full-size 48 × 72-inch gaming table.

Removable roofs provide access to the buildings’ interiors, while the flat rooftops and their low parapet walls can be used as firing positions and observation points. Movable stairs and ladders allow players to connect different levels and create alternative routes for infantry.

The set is supplied as raw parts laser-cut from 3mm MDF. It requires assembly, gluing and painting. The buildings have been designed for straightforward, beginner-friendly assembly. The photographs show an example set after assembly and finishing.

This is the last set available. We do not currently plan to restart production of our laser-cut terrain range, so Complete Desert City may not return once this set has been sold.

The accessory measurements are estimates. The stated building dimensions refer to the assembled models.

Use during games

The ten buildings can form a large desert district, several separate homesteads, a fortified settlement or a collection of structures positioned along roads and open squares. Rearranging the independent models allows a different battlefield layout to be created for every game.

The large two-storey buildings can become dominant battlefield features, headquarters, fortified posts or scenario objectives. Smaller houses provide cover and help create dense neighbourhoods that influence movement and lines of sight.

The removable roofs allow miniatures to be positioned inside the buildings. Flat rooftops create an additional playable level, while their low parapet walls provide natural cover for infantry. Movable stairs and ladders can lead from street level to the rooftops or bridge the gaps between neighbouring buildings, creating alternative routes for attacks and withdrawals.

Straight and corner wall sections can be combined to create courtyards, gardens, livestock enclosures, fortified positions and closed compounds. The wall section with an arched gateway can serve as the main entrance to a settlement or protected complex.

Setting and visual character

Simple building shapes, flat roofs, small windows, external stairs and projecting roof beams draw inspiration from the traditional architecture of desert regions. With suitable finishing, the models can represent a settlement in North Africa, the Middle East or Central Asia.

Their versatile design also works for colonial and pulp settings, modern conflict zones, post-apocalyptic towns and desert colonies on distant planets.

Material and custom finishing

All parts are precisely laser-cut from 3mm MDF and supplied without texture or paint. The plain MDF surfaces provide a flexible base that can be adapted to match an existing terrain collection.

The buildings can be left smooth or coated with modelling compound to imitate clay, plaster or adobe. Once primed, they can be painted with acrylics and finished using washes, drybrushing, pigments, dust and weathering effects.

The terrain shown in the photographs was assembled, textured and painted as a display example. Its dark brown ladders, beams and rooftop hatches demonstrate one possible finishing scheme. The components supplied in the sale have the natural colour and surface of raw MDF.

Assembly and functionality

The kit was designed for simple and intuitive assembly. Suitable wood or MDF glue is required. Once the main structures have been glued together, the roofs should remain removable so that players can access the interiors during games.

The stairs and ladders may also be left movable. This makes it possible to change rooftop access routes to suit the current terrain arrangement and scenario.

Complete Desert City was designed and produced in our family-run artisan workshop in Poland. It reflects more than 25 years of experience in designing and manufacturing scenery and terrain for miniature wargames.

It is an original terrains4games design created for battles requiring extensive, functional and fully playable multi-level terrain.

Scale and compatibility

The buildings, walls and ladders are designed for games using 28mm miniatures. The dimensions of the doors, windows, rooftops and access pieces allow infantry models to be used both inside the buildings and on their roofs.

The set is suitable for games such as Bolt Action, Chain of Command, Force on Force, Spectre Operations, Warhammer 40,000, Kill Team and Infinity, as well as other historical, modern, post-apocalyptic and science-fiction systems using miniatures in a similar scale.

This is the last available Complete Desert City set. The product will not currently be restocked and may not return to our range.

The buyer will receive a brand-new kit consisting of raw, unassembled and unpainted MDF parts. Glue, paints, tools and texturing materials are not included.

The photographs show example terrain after assembly, texturing and painting. Miniatures, the tank and all other presentation accessories shown in the photographs are included only for display and scale comparison. They are not part of the set.
