Create an extensive highland landscape filled with towering rock spires, a jagged ridge and thirteen grassy hills. Emerald Highlands is a large set of 18 finished terrain pieces suitable for developing a full-size 48 × 72-inch gaming table or, with wider spacing, an even larger battlefield.

The two 22cm rock spires can completely block lines of sight and become dominant scenario landmarks. The long rocky ridge forms a natural barrier, while thirteen low hills shape the battlefield without making it difficult to position infantry, vehicles and artillery.

Every piece is painted, covered with grass and ready for use straight out of the box. This is a used terrain set and may show light signs of previous gameplay. It remains fully functional and ready for many more battles.

Rock formations

• 2 rock spires: approximately 22 cm high, with bases measuring approximately 16–18 × 13–15 cm;

• long rock ridge: approximately 25 cm long, 11–12 cm wide and 11–12 cm high;

• large rock formation: base approximately 18 × 15 cm, height approximately 10–11 cm;

• twin rock formation: base approximately 15 × 11 cm, with the tallest rock approximately 8 cm high.

Except for the hill dimensions, the height of the spires and the length of the ridge, the measurements above have been estimated from the proportions visible in the photograph. Due to the irregular shapes, all measurements refer to the maximum dimensions of each terrain piece.

Use during games

The eighteen pieces can create a complete highland landscape. They may be arranged as one extensive upland region, several isolated hill ranges or individual obstacles spread across the entire battlefield.

The tall rock spires provide prominent landmarks and can completely block lines of sight between units. They can serve as scenario objectives, impassable massifs, alien monoliths or distinctive formations towering above a valley.

The long jagged ridge can divide the table into sectors, protect moving units and create narrow passes. The large rock formation and twin rocks work well as cover, areas of difficult terrain or central features within smaller rocky clusters.

Thirteen low hills can raise substantial areas of the battlefield without creating steep obstacles. Their broad, gently sloping surfaces provide space for infantry, vehicles, artillery and multi-model bases. The hills may be grouped into long rolling ridges or used individually as firing positions and observation points.

Setting and visual character

The vivid green grass contrasts with the cool blue-grey rocks to create a distinctive highland landscape. Hand-carved cracks, sharp edges and irregular surfaces give the formations a strong three-dimensional texture.

The set can represent a mountainous European region, verdant fantasy highlands, a remote valley, rocky frontier or lush alien world filled with monumental geological formations. Its versatile appearance suits historical, fantasy, modern, post-apocalyptic and science-fiction games.

Details and finish

The rock formations were painted in layers using acrylic paints. Washes define the cracks and recesses, drybrushing highlights sharp edges, and pigments add natural colour variation.

The hills and rock bases were covered with static grass applied using large professional flocking equipment. Several shades of green produce a varied surface, complemented by flock, clusters of stones and irregular areas of exposed earth.

Materials and construction

All rocks were hand-carved from XPS foam and permanently mounted on HDF bases. The thirteen low hills are made entirely from XPS foam without HDF backing, keeping them lightweight and easy to arrange.

Every piece was individually painted and finished with modelling materials in the terrains4games workshop.

The set was created in our family-run artisan workshop in Poland. Its design and construction reflect more than 25 years of experience in producing scenery and terrain for miniature wargames, from hand-carving the rocks to painting and final flocking.

Scale and compatibility

The set works well with 15/20/28–32mm miniatures. At smaller scales, the tall rocks can represent monumental mountain formations. With 28–32mm figures, they become substantial line-of-sight-blocking obstacles. The broad surfaces of the low hills provide space for individual miniatures, multi-model bases, vehicles and artillery.

The terrain is suitable for games such as Flames of War, Bolt Action, Saga, Warmaster, Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Age of Sigmar and Warmachine, as well as other systems using miniatures in similar scales.

Condition and important information

This is a used terrain set and may show light signs of previous gameplay, such as minor variation in the grass or small marks along the edges. The condition of the pieces is shown in the photograph. All terrain remains functional and ready for continued use.
